About Us
Pinocchio Village makes handcrafted wooden toys for children who deserve better than plastic that cracks by the second birthday. We build heirloom-quality Montessori, educational, and pretend-play toys from solid, responsibly sourced wood, finished with non-toxic, baby-safe oils and beeswax.
Why we started
We got tired of toy bins full of noisy plastic that lit up, broke, and got thrown away. Wood felt different in a child's hands: warmer, heavier, quieter. It invites a kid to make the sound effects themselves. So we set out to make toys that get handed down instead of tossed out, the kind a parent keeps in a box long after their child has grown.
How we make our toys
Every piece starts with close-grained hardwood like beech, maple, and birch. We shape it, sand it smooth enough for a baby to mouth, and finish it with food-grade oils and beeswax or leave it raw. No mystery coatings. When we paint, the finish meets recognized toy-safety standards. You can read more about our process in a look inside the workshop.
What we believe
- Open-ended beats flashy. A plain set of blocks becomes a castle, a road, a tower, then a castle again. That's real play.
- Safe means proven. Solid wood, no small parts on baby toys, and finishes we can stand behind.
- Built to last. A good wooden toy should survive one child and be ready for the next.
